Samsung Electronics announced on November 3, 2026, that its updated Sleep Apnea feature is now available on the Galaxy Ring and Galaxy Watch. The rollout follows regulatory clearances from the United States Food and Drug Administration and Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety.

Regulatory Approvals and Availability

Samsung Electronics stated that its updated Sleep Apnea feature is now available on Galaxy Watch and Ring. Following United States Food and Drug Administration clearance in July, the feature also received approval from Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety.

Samsung noted that it has become the first company in the world to bring sleep apnea risk detection to a smart ring. The original Sleep Apnea feature previously received U.S. FDA De Novo authorization in February 2024.

Monitoring and Capabilities

The updated feature is available through the Samsung Health Monitor app. Its enhanced algorithm analyzes a user's vitals during sleep in greater depth and provides insight into the level of breathing disruptions detected.

The feature requires two nights of valid data within a 10-day period. Jongmin Choi, Head of Health R&D Group, Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics, said the approvals reflect the company's commitment to accessible innovation.
