Editorial Standards & How We Use AI

TechUpscale uses automation to report technology news fast. These standards are how we keep it accurate.

1. We report from primary sources

We monitor official publications from organizations with first-hand authority over the news:

• Tier 1: government and national CERTs. For example CISA, NIST and the National Vulnerability Database, the FBI and IC3, the Department of Justice, the FTC, the SEC, the White House, DARPA, the UK National Cyber Security Centre, the UK AI Security Institute, the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security, CERT-FR, JPCERT/CC and the European Commission.
• Tier 2: the companies and labs themselves, reporting on their own products and research. For example Microsoft, Google, Google DeepMind, OpenAI, NVIDIA, Apple, AWS, Cisco and GitHub. Their announcements are reported as their claims, with attribution.
• Tier 3: research preprints and university newsrooms, such as arXiv and MIT. Preprints are labeled as not peer-reviewed.

2. What our automation does

• Structured alerts, such as our exploited-vulnerability reports, are built directly from government data (for example CISA’s Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog). Source fields are reproduced verbatim. No AI writing is involved.
• Written reports are drafted by an AI model that is given only the source publication and instructed to use nothing else. It must attach an exact quote from the source to each key fact.
• Independent fact-check. A second, separate AI review checks every claim in the draft against the source. Software then confirms that every number, direct quote and CVE identifier appears in the source text.
• If any check fails, the story is not published. It is held for a human editor.
• Every automated story lists its sources at the end of the article and is bylined “TechUpscale Newsroom”. Stories reviewed by an editor say so.

3. What we never do

• Publish facts, figures or quotes we cannot trace to a source.
• Automate reviews. Reviews are written by people who used the product.
• Let advertisers influence coverage. Sponsored content is clearly labeled, its links are marked as sponsored, and our newsroom does not write it.
• Republish other outlets’ journalism. We link to primary sources and write our own reports.
