Privacy check: what websites can see about you

Every website you visit can see some things about you without asking. Here is what yours shows right now, and how to share less. This check runs in your browser; TechUpscale doesn't save the results.

Your public IP address

Checking…

Your IP address is how the internet sends pages back to you. Every site you visit sees it, and it can reveal your approximate location and your internet provider. A trusted VPN or Apple's iCloud Private Relay replaces it with theirs. Tor hides it best.

Your browser's privacy signals

  • Global Privacy Control …
Tells sites not to sell or share your data. It is legally binding in California, Colorado and several other US states. Built into Brave, DuckDuckGo and Firefox (Settings → Privacy & Security); other browsers need an extension.
  • Do Not Track …
An older request that most sites ignore. Global Privacy Control replaced it.
  • Local network address (WebRTC) …
Video-calling features can expose your device's address on your home or office network. Modern browsers hide it behind a random name.
  • Secure connection …
HTTPS encrypts what you read and type here so others on your network can't see it.

What your browser tells every site

  • Browser and system …
  • Languages …
  • Time zone …
  • Screen …

Combined, details like these can help advertisers recognise your browser even without cookies ("fingerprinting"). Brave, Firefox (Enhanced Tracking Protection set to Strict), Safari and Tor Browser resist it.
