NASA announced that its James Webb Space Telescope has captured imagery of protostars and stars hidden within the stellar nursery NGC 7129. The image was released on Oct. 6, 2026.
Observations of NGC 7129
NASA said the James Webb Space Telescope has revealed many protostars and stars within the glowing gases of NGC 7129. The stellar nursery resides about 3,300 light-years from Earth.
The telescope unveiled numerous stars formerly hidden by clouds of dust in the region.
Gas Composition and Imagery
According to NASA, hot atomic hydrogen gas is shown in the golden region of the capture. Meanwhile, cooler molecular hydrogen gas, shocked by embedded protostars, is represented in red.
