Cybersecurity organization ISC2 announced the launch of the Cyber-AI Workforce Coalition on October 20, 2026, to define essential skills and roles for the AI era.

Building an AI-Era Toolkit

ISC2 announced the launch of the Cyber-AI Workforce Coalition to bring together technology providers, major employers, and workforce development organizations. The initiative aims to create a competency toolkit providing practical guidance for how employers hire, develop, and organize cybersecurity talent.

ISC2 CEO Scott Beale stated that AI is changing how cybersecurity work gets done. According to Beale, the community must define how responsibilities, roles, and skills will evolve so organizations can prepare for the future.

Convening Founding Members

ISC2 stated that no single employer, vendor, or institution can define the AI-era cybersecurity workforce alone. The founding members will work to produce a common, practitioner-tested definition of the skills and judgment required in the AI era.

ISC2 plans to convene a founding group of employers, technology leaders, and workforce organizations this fall to shape the coalition's agenda. The organization noted that its more than 270,000 members worldwide will be represented as AI reshapes workplace roles and expectations.
