Resideo Technologies announced plans on October 22, 2026, to release a software update in the first quarter of 2027 for its Honeywell Home smart thermostats. The update will add support for Apple's HomeView capabilities without requiring hardware replacements.
Software Update Details
Resideo Technologies stated that the upcoming software update will enable its existing Honeywell Home ElitePRO, X7S, and X8S smart thermostats to support Apple's HomeView features. According to the company, these capabilities include Adaptive Temperature Control and Clean Energy Guidance.
Tom Surran, president and CEO of Resideo, said the update allows homeowners to take advantage of new features on devices already installed in homes. The company noted that users will not need to replace their existing hardware or require additional professional installation to receive the update.
Thermostat Features and Ecosystem Support
Resideo's Honeywell Home smart thermostats feature radar-based occupancy detection, support for multiple room sensors, indoor air quality device integration, and Redlink wireless technology. The devices also include a customizable touchscreen display of up to five inches and allow users to stream live video from compatible Ring and First Alert doorbells.
The company stated that the thermostats currently support smart home ecosystems including Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Home Assistant, and Samsung SmartThings, and are Matter certified. Homeowners can manage the devices via the Resideo Connect app without a smart home hub.
