The Reserve Bank of India released its monthly Bulletin for October 2026 on October 23, 2026. The publication includes two speeches, four articles, and current statistics.

Economic Trends and Lending Rates

The Reserve Bank released the October 2026 issue of its monthly Bulletin on October 23, 2026. The opening article on the state of the economy reports that renewed geopolitical frictions in West Asia and supply chain disruptions have amplified inflationary pressures.

Another article analyses the transmission of monetary policy to fresh lending rates of scheduled commercial banks. In response to a cumulative reduction of 125 basis points in the policy repo rate, the weighted average lending rate on fresh lending declined by 93 basis points between February 2025 and March 2026.

NBFC Sector and Alternative Data Research

An article reviewing the non-banking financial company sector up to end-December 2025 covers double-digit year-on-year credit growth and improvements in asset quality. Employing a text-mining approach, the study also explores the extent and nature of orientation towards artificial intelligence by select NBFCs.

A separate study demonstrates how satellite-based night-time lights and digital search behaviour can be used to generate high-frequency estimates of state-level economic activity. The publication notes that the views expressed in the Bulletin articles are those of the authors and do not represent the views of the Reserve Bank of India.
