During the October 2026 state visit of Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to the United Kingdom, the UK and Oman agreed to deepen bilateral cooperation in cyber security, artificial intelligence, and space technology as part of a broader diplomatic announcement.

Cyber Security and National Resilience

As part of a broader agreement following talks at 10 Downing Street, the United Kingdom and the Sultanate of Oman committed to modernising security and national resilience cooperation.

Both countries agreed to work more closely to tackle shared international security challenges by deepening collaboration across security and national resilience, including cyber security.

Advanced Technologies and Space Cooperation

The two nations agreed to advance cooperation in advanced technologies through targeted roundtables, delegations, and technical exchanges. These technological areas encompass artificial intelligence, data centres, critical minerals, and space.

Additionally, both sides welcomed an agreement between the UK Space Agency and the Oman National Space Programme to share best practices, explore future cooperation on space launch, and promote commercial partnerships. The two governments also acknowledged a British Council pilot focused on artificial intelligence-assisted education in Omani schools.

Economic Partnerships and Future Industries

The broader joint statement outlines long-term economic cooperation linking the UK Office for Investment and the Oman Investment Authority. This framework advances joint efforts on green growth, advanced technologies, critical minerals, space, innovation, scale-up finance, industrial clusters, and regional connectivity.

Both governments intend to use Omani industrial zones and innovation clusters as platforms for UK expertise to support Oman's economic diversification and its role as a regional gateway.
