TCL SunPower Global announced the launch of SunPower Origin across Europe on October 19, 2026, for residential and commercial formats. Orders are currently open for SunPower Partners, with first deliveries expected before the end of 2026. The new solar panel line is built on the eighth generation of SunPower's back-contact cell technology, which was pioneered four decades ago.
According to the company, Origin uses lithography rather than laser processing to pattern cells, a method designed to reduce micro-cracks. Steven Zhang, General Manager at TCL SunPower Global, stated that previous generations provided insights into micro-cracks, shade behavior, and solder joints over time. Karin Alberto-Burkhardt, Director PV Product Management, described the technology as original, safest, and strongest.

The residential panel features 54 cells in an 1,800 by 1,134 mm frame, delivering up to 505 W at up to 24.7% efficiency in a fully black design. The commercial panel includes 66 cells, measures 2,192 by 1,134 mm, and delivers up to 615 W with up to 80% bifaciality to capture reflected light on its rear side.
Origin is certified Class A+ for shading resistance by TÜV Rheinland and features impact resistance certified for hailstones up to 40 mm in diameter traveling at 27.5 m/s. The system carries a complete 40-year warranty covering the product, power output, and service, with degradation not exceeding 0.25% per year and a temperature coefficient of -0.26%/°C.
