Nordic Semiconductor announced the nRF71 Series of ultra-low-power systems-on-chip in Oslo, Norway, on November 3, 2026. The new chips combine Wi-Fi, Bluetooth LE, Thread, and edge AI on a single chip.
Single-Chip Connectivity and AI
Nordic Semiconductor said the nRF71 Series integrates ultra-low-power Wi-Fi, Bluetooth LE, Thread, and edge AI onto a single chip. According to the company, the chips deliver up to 20 times lower standby power usage than current-generation nRF70 Series Wi-Fi products.
Kjetil Holstad, executive vice president of Wi-Fi and power management at Nordic Semiconductor, said the series removes power budget barriers for battery-powered Wi-Fi devices. The chips feature an integrated Axon Neural Processing Unit and support Neuton software for running machine learning models locally.
Hardware Specifications and Availability
The initial lineup includes the nRF7120 featuring dual-band Wi-Fi 6 and the nRF7120E featuring tri-band Wi-Fi 6E alongside the Axon NPU. Both parts include 4 MB of on-chip non-volatile memory and 1 MB of user-accessible RAM, powered by two independent radios for simultaneous connectivity.
Nordic Semiconductor announced that the nRF71 Series is currently sampling with selected customers. The company stated it will showcase the new series at Electronica in Hall C6, booth 159.
