The Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Mr Christopher Hui, chaired the sixth meeting of the Coordination Group on Implementation of Fintech Initiatives (CGFin) on October 26, 2026. Hui stated that Hong Kong retains its top global ranking in fintech offering according to the latest Global Financial Centres Index Report.
The meeting covered proposed regulatory regimes for virtual asset dealing, custodian, advisory, and management service providers. Financial regulators also updated the group on their progress in adopting artificial intelligence in the financial market. Additionally, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority briefed members on Project Ensemble, the banking sector's quantum preparedness, the Commercial Data Interchange, and Project CargoX.

The meeting noted that Hong Kong FinTech Week 2026 will take place from November 2 to 6 alongside the StartmeupHK Festival, themed "Fintech Nexus: Bridging the World, Building the Future". The main conference is scheduled for November 2 and 3 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Marking its 11th edition, the annual event aims to showcase the vitality of Hong Kong's fintech ecosystem to global markets through collaboration between the Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau, Invest Hong Kong, and industry participants.
