Vercel announced on October 9, 2026, that new Pro teams on its platform will now default to a 30-day deployment retention period.

Managing deployment storage

Vercel attributed the policy update to coding agents, which the company said have accelerated development, leading to higher deployment frequencies and larger volumes of stored deployment history.

According to Vercel, a shorter retention default ensures recent history remains accessible while capping older history and its associated storage costs.

Retention settings and pricing

Teams requiring additional history for inspection or rollbacks can select a longer retention period within their team settings.

Vercel noted that Deployment Storage and Functions Storage are each priced at $0.10 per GB-month. The company cautioned that older deployments deleted under a retention policy cannot be restored or used for rollbacks.

What to do

  • Select a longer retention period in your team's settings if you need more history for inspection or rollback.
