Toyota Motor North America (TMNA) said on October 2, 2026 that it sold 201,306 vehicles in the United States in September 2026, with electrified models accounting for 117,215 of those sales, or 58.2% of total volume. The company also reported third-quarter US sales of 633,223 vehicles.
What Toyota reported
TMNA said September US sales rose 8.4% in volume and 4.0% on a daily selling rate (DSR) basis compared with September 2025. The company counted 25 selling days in September 2026 against 24 a year earlier.
Electrified sales in the month were up 37.8% in volume and 32.2% on a DSR basis, the company said, reaching 58.2% of total volume compared with 45.8% a year earlier.
For the third quarter, TMNA reported 633,223 vehicles sold, up 0.6% in both volume and DSR terms, with electrified sales of 363,367 units, up 28.5%, or 57.4% of total volume.
Brand breakdown
The Toyota division sold 171,469 vehicles in September, up 7.9% in volume, including 104,105 electrified units, up 36.6%, the company said. Quarterly Toyota division sales were 540,167 vehicles, up 0.5%, with 325,227 electrified units, up 29.2%.
Lexus reported 29,837 vehicles in September, up 11.4% in volume, with 13,110 electrified units, up 47.4%. For the quarter, Lexus sold 93,056 vehicles, up 1.6%, including 38,140 electrified units, up 23.1%.
Toyota said the Toyota division posted its best-ever electrified share at 61%, and that 32 electrified vehicles are currently available across Toyota and Lexus dealerships. The company also said it is among the full-line manufacturers with the lowest incentives.
Battery-electric and hybrid models
Toyota's electrified sales table groups hybrids, plug-in hybrids, battery-electric models and the Mirai. Among battery-electric models, the company reported September sales of 2,381 bZ units, 894 C-HR BEV units, 686 bZ Woodland units, 586 Lexus ES BEV units and 578 Lexus RZ units.
On the hybrid side, Toyota listed 28,642 RAV4 Hybrid sales and 5,544 RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid sales in September, against 12,830 and 1,952 respectively a year earlier. Camry hybrid sales were 25,350 for the month.
Calendar-year-to-date, TMNA said electrified sales totaled 1,038,114 units versus 892,402 in the same period of 2025, an increase of 16.3%, representing 55.3% of total sales.

Andrew Gilleland, senior vice president of the Automotive Operations Group at Toyota Motor North America, said the third-quarter results reinforce a simple truth: customers want choice. He said the company's multi-pronged strategy, spanning affordability and electrification, continues to adapt to customer needs, and that momentum and disciplined inventory management leave it well positioned heading into the fourth quarter.
In company background material, Toyota said it directly employs nearly 64,000 people in North America across 14 manufacturing plants and works with more than 1,800 dealerships. It said its North Carolina plant began producing batteries for electric vehicles in 2025.
