Growth equity firm Spectrum Equity announced the closing of Fund XI at $2.5 billion in an oversubscribed, single close on October 8, 2026. The milestone marks the firm's largest fund since its founding in 1994.

Investment Focus and Strategy

Spectrum Equity stated that Fund XI will maintain its focus on rapidly growing, capital-efficient, founder-led companies spanning software, artificial intelligence, and data services. Managing Director Ben Spero noted that artificial intelligence is creating unprecedented opportunities to deliver new value for end customers in the types of businesses the firm specializes in.

The firm intends to invest $25 million to $250 million per company, targeting founder-owned businesses with little or no prior institutional capital.

Founded in 1994 with offices in Boston, San Francisco, and London, Spectrum Equity has raised over $12.5 billion in capital from limited partners across its 11 main funds. The firm has invested in more than 190 companies over three decades.

Managing Director Mike Farrell said more than 50 of the Fund XI investors are founders, executives, or board members of companies in which Spectrum has previously invested.
