NASA announced on October 29, 2026, that members of the public can register to send their names to Saturn's moon Titan aboard the agency's Dragonfly rotorcraft mission.

Public submission details

Through the Viaje a Titan campaign, participants can have their names included on a microchip that will travel aboard Dragonfly. NASA said participants will receive a personalized digital boarding pass to commemorate their participation in the exploration mission.

Submissions are open online in Spanish and English at go.nasa.gov/dragonfly-names. The agency stated that the public can secure a spot on the passenger list until 23:59 EST on January 15, 2027.

Mission timeline and science goals

Dragonfly is currently being assembled at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) in Laurel, Maryland, with launch scheduled for 2028. After its arrival at Titan in 2034, the rotorcraft will fly to different locations to investigate the moon's environments.

NASA said Titan features a dense atmosphere, liquid methane rivers and lakes, vast dunes, and an organic-rich landscape. The mission aims to search for signs of prebiotic chemistry to assist scientists in understanding the conditions and ingredients necessary for life.

Project leadership and program management

Dragonfly is designed and built under the direction of APL, which manages the mission for NASA, with Elizabeth Turtle of APL serving as principal investigator.

The project represents the fourth mission in NASA's New Frontiers Program, which is managed by the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, for the agency's Science Mission Directorate in Washington.
