Competition Win

LanthaGen Bio Ltd took home the top prize at the Coller AI Competition final, securing a £100,000 equity investment from the Jeremy Coller Foundation. The final pitch event concluded the inaugural Innovation Festival held at The University of Manchester's Nancy Rothwell Building.

CTO and co-founder Dan Healy led the winning pitch and accepted the award alongside CSO and co-founder Ellie Goulding. Investment Principal Harry Kalms presented the prize.

AI Technology and Funding

According to the university, LanthaGen Bio won with an AI platform that simulates how proteins and peptides bind metals, allowing new metal-capturing proteins to be designed computationally. The approach helps recover valuable metals from electronic waste and supports efforts to onshore the UK's critical-mineral supply.

The company stated that the new investment adds to £2.4 million in grant funding already secured. The six-person team will use the capital to build sustainably toward future development.
