Opera announced on October 15, 2026, that it has launched the reimagined Opera Air, a minimalist web browser designed to reduce clutter and help users focus on online tasks.
Minimalist Interface and Default Settings
According to Opera, the browser is built to address internet noise and screen clutter by starting with fewer default tools. Opera Air removes widgets, predefined shortcuts, and Speed Dials, presenting users with an empty interface upon opening.
The company stated that system-level notifications and promotional tips from Opera Air are disabled by default. Users retain the ability to manually add back tools and features as they require them.
The browser also introduces a updated catalog of wallpapers designed using artistic perspective, fractals, and textures, which automatically adapt to Light or Dark Mode.
Soundscapes and Binaural Beats
Opera Air includes an integrated audio feature called Soundscapes, which organizes audio into four categories: Focus, Work, Relax, and Ambience. Ambience is a newly introduced category offering background sounds like Sea Waves and Spring Forest.
The company said the tracks combine music, ambient sounds, and optional binaural beats aimed at supporting states such as focus or relaxation. The binaural beats feature is turned off by default and can be toggled in the top-right corner of the Soundscape player, where users can also set timers or loop tracks.
Opera said five new Soundscapes are included in the browser, including a track called Hyperfocus designed for energetic work rhythms.
In-Browser Guided Breaks
Opera Air includes a feature called Breaks that provides guided physical and breathing exercises directly within the browser interface. The breathing module offers four routines lasting between 3 and 5 minutes: Destress, Refresh, Box, and Relax, launched from the sidebar in two clicks.
Breathing exercises offer voice guide customization in male or female voices, alongside selectable music and ambient sounds, with support for English, German, Portuguese, and Polish. The browser also provides four neck exercise routines lasting 5 to 14 minutes: Unwind, Pain Relief, Loosen Up, and Tension Release, with an optional camera feed to let users mirror model movements.
Opera noted that break reminders can be configured for intervals between 45 and 180 minutes in the application settings, though reminders remain turned off by default.
