Supabase said on October 2, 2026 that it has raised $150 million in new funding led by GIC and is acquiring Turso, a platform the company said lets developers access higher volumes of databases for agentic workloads.
Who is backing the round
Supabase, which describes itself as the leader in agentic infrastructure and an open source Postgres development platform, said Alphabet's independent growth fund CapitalG, IronArc and SquarePeg also participated in the round alongside lead investor GIC.
The company said the investment comes just four months after its $500 million Series F, and that the round will also provide liquidity for employees, which the founders consider an important part of being the best company for engineers.
Derek Zanutto, general partner at CapitalG, said in the announcement: "Supabase has established itself as the critical open infrastructure layer powering the AI revolution."
Growth figures the company reports
Supabase said it is now adding more than 1 million users and 4 million databases per month, with 70% of new databases created by agents or AI-driven tools.
That growth follows a 600% year-over-year increase in databases the company reported in June, when, it said, agents were already deploying the majority of new databases on the platform. The figures are Supabase's own and were not independently verified in the announcement.
The company said tools including Claude Code and Codex are expanding both the number of people who can build software and the amount of software they can create, and that its goal is to become the first place developers and agents turn when they need backend support.
Why Supabase is buying Turso
Supabase said that as AI labs and builders scale agentic deployments, the need for large numbers of databases compounds, and that platforms should be able to launch enormous numbers of isolated databases without provisioning a dedicated machine for each one.
It said Turso's architecture offers databases at a low cost and enables provisioning of on-demand per-agent databases in the public cloud and BYOC, for customers including Superhuman, Sauna.ai, CTO.new and Mastra.
The Turso platform will continue operations with what Supabase called a clear graduation path into the rest of its ecosystem. Turso founder Glauber Costa will join Supabase as Head of Agentic Services alongside co-founder Pekka Enberg and the rest of the Turso team. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed in the announcement.
What the executives said
"The past year has been the fastest growth in our history by a wide margin," said Paul Copplestone, co-founder and CEO of Supabase, who added that CapitalG's "connections to the broader Alphabet ecosystem will be invaluable as we build for our next level of growth."
Copplestone also said: "The future is agents and the architecture Turso provides will help us accelerate Supabase as the backend platform for supporting that future."
Costa said his goal from the start was to serve upwards of a billion databases to customers, and that being part of Supabase will bring that goal closer.
Supabase said more than 13 million developers use the platform, which was founded in 2020 and provides a Postgres database, authentication, storage, edge functions, real-time subscriptions and vector search, alongside a marketplace of more than 100 integrated partner tools.
